Making Your Wedding Website: What to Share & When to Share It

Custom Wedding Website on Desktop, Mobile and Tablet

1. Choose the right service

Choose a service that allows easy editing and view-ability across all devices. This will ensure that you can edit and update your site no matter where you are (PC, tablet & mobile), and that your guests will have access to this information no matter where they are (while gift shopping, booking accommodation, or making their way to your reception).

2. Share your story

Share a little. Tell your guests something they may not already know, like how you met, your engagement story or your wedding & life plans to make them feel even closer to you on your special day.

3. Pick the right photo

If you had an engagement shoot, get your photographer’s POV on the best shot to share (most will give you an unbiased opinion). If you aren’t doing an engagement shoot, you could use an old photo from when you first met. Or if you’d like something fun and different, opt for a photo booth or a Polaroid shot!

4. Gift-guide your guests

A gift registry is your time to ask for what you want and need, but be mindful to your guests’ budgets & try to give various price points. And if you’re asking for money instead, give your guests a little info about how you plan to spend it: honeymoon, saving for a house, etc, etc.

5. Keep it updated

Get your site as complete as possible before you share it with your guests. And if you plan on adding info as you go, let your guests know to check back in for updates.

6. If in doubt, over share

Give as much info as possible. Dates, times, maps, accommodation options, gifts, etc. The more info you give upfront, the fewer questions await!

*TIP! HOW TO GET A: Save the Date, Wedding & Thank You site ALL IN ONE!

Some services (like Wedke!) allow you to hide, show and rename all the sections of your site. Start with a little ‘Save the Date’ page. As details are confirmed, add them in to complete your wedding site. With a little tweaking after the wedding, you can make a thank you and wedding photo album site.

Best of luck with your plans!
